PAINTING WITH TARA

For Christmas, Sean got me an easel so I could try my hand at a different art medium. I've been wanting to try painting for quite some time, so I'm really excited to see what I can create.

For my first piece, I wanted to see what the brushes did and how they felt. And I wanted to see how to layer some acrylic colours on top of each other. The result was an interesting piece that shows that I only have upwards to go!

Naomi Nickerson, MFA says: "Nice composition and great color!" :-)

For my second piece, I wanted to see what the oils felt like. They feel, well, oily. And take forever to dry.

Then a foray into knife painting. Ask me how much I love knife painting....I love it THIS much! It answers to my desire for boldness in both colour and application. Yes, folks, I sure do love knife painting!

First layer without clouds:  And after clouds and sky has been added:

I might put on a glaze after it's all dry. I'm not sure I like how the clouds and water are together...

How about some flowers? Big, graphic, BRIGHT flowers? Honestly, they're not as neon as they look :-)

And my "studio" space. I share it with an iguana, a big printer, our bar, papasan chair, and wine rack :-)

My first, actual ART piece. Something from my brain and heart onto the canvas. FINALLY! This one has actually resulted in a few "commissions".

Window of Fire I:

OK..not art, per se. But fun :-)

And for my friend, Ashley :-)

I haven't been keeping a good record of what I've been doing, but here's a new one for my friend, Lizz :-)
