NEW FRIDGE!

The fridge supplied by our landlord was small, and the seal was starting to fail. I'd wake up in the morning and have to mop up condensation off the floor. Not to mention all the money we wasted on fresh fruit and vegetables that committed suicide shortly after their purchase. NOTHING would stay fresh for more than a couple days.

Sooooo, we asked him if he'd mind if we bought our own fridge. That way, we figured we'd get the exact fridge we wanted and we could take it with us wherever we end up. Life's too short to have crappy appliances, right? I shopped around online for a lot of different types and manufacturers and had decided that what I really wanted was a bottom-freezer, french door type. Then it was off to the stores to see them in person.

We ended up with a Kenmore Elite Trio from Sears. At first, I thought I really wanted both water and ice in the door, but after seeing them I came to the conclusion that I really didn't like all the space taken up in the door from the ice storage. We got ice in the freezer compartment, and it totally rocks. All the ice you can want...and one day V & B are going to figure out it's the perfect height and location for them to help themselves. A kiddie lock on the freezer? :-)

Behold! Fridge-Normous! A casualty of what I refer to as "The Costco Syndrome", where the scale of things in the store or warehouse are nothing like the scale of things in your own home. 25 cubic feet of refrigeration and freezing technology!

Compared to the surrounding microwave
and countertop it's a behemoth

Check it out!
It can even do metric!

The water dispenser is brilliant.
It's essentially flush with the front, so it'll accomodate whatever size bottle or glass you want.

Open sesame! Even when filled with more food than our old fridge could hold, there's still plenty of space.

It has a full-width "deli" drawer which keeps things cooler than the rest of the fridge.
Perfect for meats and cheeses.

The crisper drawers have a front-section that tilts outwards. Great for delicate things...and pretty!

The freezer tilts out, too, if you just want to grab something from the front without having to pull out the entire drawer.
